I'm trying to add some fillets to a funnel. I can't figure out how to select the edges that I wish to fillet. I've finished all the sketching required to build the body but when I bring up the fillet menu, I can't click on the edge that I wish to filet. I've tried the different selection tools but none of them will select the edge.

Here's the drawing https://a360.co/39mCmXq . I'm trying to fillet the transition from the 45 degree funnel slope to the vertical throat and the bottom of the throat to the the horizontal plate.

As a test, I created a simple rectangular brick to see if I understand how to use the fillet tool and am able to fillet the edges without issue. That tells me I've done something odd in my funnel drawing that is preventing me from selecting the edges I'm trying to fillet. The document tree shows all the individual sketches that I made to build up the funnel but it only shows a single body for the throat and cone despite the fact that I built the throat by extruding a ring and the cone by revolving a rectangle around the the throat. Perhaps I missed a toggle switch somewhere along the way?

Hi,

take a look at:

cylinder funnel fillet

Either you move the funnel so that it overlaps with the cylinder or you lengthen the cylinder in height.

günther

There are 3 things that are in your way:

1. The entire Bodies folder has been marked "Unselectable":

so, you cannot select any body geometry. I did not even know you could mark the entire folder as unselectable, and apparently, fixing it requires a few steps (see screencast to follow in a separate post).

2. For the bottom fillet, you have two separate bodies. Fillet only works on a single body. You must use Combine to combine those bodies:

3. for the top fillet - there is a tiny face here - the cylinder and cone do not meet cleanly. Most likely, this is as a result of imprecise modeling, but I did not go back and try to fix the source of the problem. You should definitely do that, however. I cheated and just deleted that face.
