I don't seem to be having the same experience with this design. Whether working on it directly, or inserting it into an empty design, it seems to work pretty well. I have a decent machine (2018 MacBook Pro), but it's not that great. Are you seeing different behavior than I show in the screencast below? Or, maybe I am doing different operations than you are, if so, let us know what is sluggish for you.

This assembly is causing a real issue for my design. Even if you insert it into a completely empty file, it causes a slow performance. Manipulating its position with ot without joints is painfully slow. I built very similar assemblies before and they didn´t have this behaviour. I tried using rigid groups, I deleted some components and even all the joints. Nothing helped. Any ideas?

The assembly consists out of linked components. I need to do it this way beause the manufacturing workflow is much easier with individual components. I also have some Mcmaster screws and bearings in it. (Step)

https://easyupload.io/9nhsjo The upload function didn´t work, so I used this.
Here is a link as well. https://a360.co/38XGj3U

Translations tend to cause some of the more dramatic performance issues. We are talking about moving and regenerating parts and in this file there are a fair number of faces/bodies to regenerate once moved. So far that is the only area i've seen any significant performance drop.

I have not removed them because i do not have time to delete and redraw all the joints - so this next part is somewhat conjecture and mostly based on past experience.

It's likely the number of rigid joints is causing the extra lag when moving - that forces a live recompute of the joints. In all honestly you do not need all those rigid joints. Screws and Bolts should not be rigid jointed one at a time to each other and the main assembly. A single rigid group between bolt, washers and nut to the main body should suffice.

That looks fine indeed. I also use a new Mac. Yesterday I noticed that it works by fixing the part in place and having the rest of the assembly move around it. So that the part in question is not moved at all. Restarting Fusion also helps after a while.
