I have been trying to create threads in Fusion 360. For most combinations diameters and thread pitch, the male and female threads are not aligned properly when I look at them using Inspect > Section Analysis. I have reset Fusion preferences to the defaults with no change in the behavior. Any advice would be appreciated. Here is a link to an example: https://a360.co/3b7rcXl

Fusion 360 will not automatically align threads in two different bodies. You will have to move one or both bodies to do this yourself. You could create components of the bodies and join them together, with the proper offset, to maintain their alignment.

If you model the nut and screw starting from the same plane, then the threads will line up but as @jhackney1972 said, Fusion does not automatically line threads up, as there is really no reason to.

Thanks for the reply. However, I beg to differ on the threads lining up. male and female threads created on the same plane only line up on some thread pitch options. At least for me. I'm using the default settings in Fusion 360 and can't see anything I'm doing wrong in creating the model. Some thread options line up, some don't. I had assumed, as you said, that if the threads were created using the same plane, they would line up, but most thread options do not. Since I am relatively new to Fusion 360, I had assumed that it was my fault - and it may still be. However, I've reached out to a couple of others that are far more familiar with Fusion than I and they can't see anything wrong with what I did. For what it is worth, they had assumed that threads would align if created on the same plane was true too, but they got the same result.

It's not that this is critical, but it seems odd in the way it appears to work. Thanks again for the reply.
