I imported two .stl files to my design as bodies and am trying to convert them to components for use in simulation. I assigned them physical materials and used right click -> create component from bodies, but nothing happened. I'd be less confused if it told me I was missing some step, but as of right now I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong since there isn't a response at all. I can still create new blank components via the menu, but I can't assign them bodies.

Thanks

I'm trying to attach the models, but for some reason whenever I try to post a reply with attachments it just refreshes the post creation page and removes my attachments.

You will need to zip them up, then attach them.

@Anonymous - this seems to be correct - you cannot create a component from a mesh body. I'm not sure if that is intended or not, I'll check to see whether this is a change from past releases or if it is intentional. To be honest, though, I'm not certain whether you can simulate mesh bodies or not, another thing that I'll have to check on.

You can convert the mesh bodies to BRep, then both Create Components From Bodies and SIM will definitely work. In general, I do not recommend this workflow, as there are lots of pitfalls to using it, but in your case, it might be worth trying.

follow-up: It appears that you could never create a component from a mesh body - I checked a release from a few years ago, and the behavior has not changed. So, it appears as if this is the intended behavior.
