Loft does not end up like in the preview

Hello,

I am a Fusion 360 beginner and I have a question concerning lofts. I would like to connect the two sketches shown in the first screencast ( https://autode.sk/39MaTxz ) and I would like the resulting body to be symmetrical. Both sketches are symmetrical. It should look like what is shown while the loft window is still open, but after closing it, the right front edge changes.

So I edited the top sketch, deleted a line and put the same line back in again (same constraints and dimensions). After that, the dot at the bottom right corner showed up while creating a loft (second screencast https://autode.sk/38IlGJd ) and I could move the lines. But I still don't know how to end up with a symmetrical body by using the loft tool.

You probably need some rails to define the loft. Please attach your model so others on the forum can help you out.

@Radischen - loft cannot work with profiles containing open regions (holes). You will have to do the open areas as separate lofts, requiring profiles on both sides, as a Cut operation.

@jhackney1972Thank you, I did manage to get the shape I wanted using rails (sketch lines) on the edges.

But I still don't understand why two symmetric sketches create an unsymmetrical body and why this body changes after clicking ok in the loft window.

Loft is rarely the correct tool to use for prismatic geometry - there is almost always a better technique.

But if you are going to use Loft, you will need to manually define the Point Mapping if you do not use guide curves.

This is the way it is in every parametric MCAD software that I use.
