we need the design you are working with. The log files can help with some areas, but for this kind of issue, we need the model itself, and some information about what you are patterning (faces, bodies, features), and what path you are using.

First of all, your second sketch is a mess! (see screen capture) You had projected geometry which was missing it's reference, that is the sketch background color of the timeline icon was yellow. I got rid of that error but the rest of the sketch is unconstrained and a total mess. I left it for you to straighten out. I do not know the text font you used, I must not have it since when I try and edit the text, it changes to Arial on my system. Anyway with any editing, the font switches to my default Arial. The model opens quickly, at least my version, your font may be the issue I do not know. There was a mesh object in the timeline I could not figure out what it was so I deleted it. Patterning a pattern is not a very efficient way to do your pattern. Notice in my model I used a one rectangular pattern to accomplish the same thing. My model is attached with a different name.

By the way, I never had a crash on yours or my model.

that is basically what I am trying to achieve but i would like to fill the board with it i was having issues trying to get it to do 3 but even now my fusion crashes when i try and change yours to say 10 instead of 3. that sketch was just to allow me to shape the board i still may change that. that is probably why it was all over the show. thanks for the help rectangle pattern is really what i was after hopefully i can sort why fusion is playing up and fix this design.

it looks like this design has a successful Pattern on Path in it. But, this is a LOT of geometry to try to pattern. Does Fusion actually crash (i.e. you get a crash dialog), or is it just slow? How long did you let it run? Did you Force Quit Fusion?

It will take a LONG time to try to pattern this kind of geometry. One thing I noticed is that you have the pattern type set to "Adjust". This is by far the slowest type of feature pattern - it can take up to 10x longer to pattern using this type over the "Optimized" feature pattern:

I switched the type to Optimized, and changed the count to 5. Then, I let it run, and eventually it produced this:

and, here is the 10 instance version, including the first extrude, so that the pattern is complete:

It is very important that everyone understands the difference between a crash (in which Fusion stops running entirely, and you get a crash dialog), and an operation which takes a long time. In this case, the resulting file is 60MB in size, has 76,000 faces, 225,000 edges, and 150,000 vertices. You are asking Fusion to compute a LOT of geometry here, and it is going to take some time. I think it takes around 20 minutes to compute this pattern on my 2018 MacBook Pro. Something that is this complex is going to be slow, and you should expect that. That is not a crash.

I've been trying to think of an appropriate analogy, and have not yet settled on a good one. But one that comes close is the difference between building a doghouse, a single-family house, and a 20-story office building. You can build a doghouse in an afternoon, you can build a single-family house in a few months, and the office building will likely take 2-3 years. No one expects to build an office building in an afternoon. You would not say that the building process has failed because that building is not done in a day.

That makes sense so I am probably overloading the cpu would that be more of the problem. I havent been able to open this in fusion but I will leave it for an hour or so I'm running a 2018 hp work book with 16gb ram and i5 processor is it more likely that that is holding this back. I have had is send error reports to Microsoft

Cheers

Cory
