Sometimes when I export STLs the orientation is not preserved. This behavior is inconsistent with no predictability on expected outcome. How do I fix this? A simple "preserve orientation" checkbox in the output dialog box would have been the best possible deign choice.

Can you File>Export and then Attach *.f3d file and resulting *.stl file that exhibits this behavior?

STL export should be in the owning component's coordinate system always. If the component has been moved/rotated, that will not affect the STL output. If there are cases where an STL is output that is different from its relationship to the owning component's origin, then that is a bug, but we'll need to see an example.

I think the most ideal solution that makes everyone happy would be to add a checkbox that says "Preserve orientation as seen".

No this is when you rightclick on the INDIVIDUAL object (in the browser tree or have the body highlighted) and go to Save As STL. I've been able to get it to export correctly sometimes, but it's soooo inconsistent.

as requested, please provide an example where the orientation is incorrect, then we can take a look at it, and see if we can figure out whether it is a bug or intended Fusion behavior. Thanks.

Okay so I finally had time to do this. https://photos.app.goo.gl/KVdKUGrt5kYNfAzy7

I really don't understand what's going on. Notice how the object is upside down. And this doesn't apply to any other object either. Hence why I think having a checkbox that says Force preserve orientation would make the most sense

no, we don't need a video, we need the model. how to share a Fusion design

Although one comment is important that I could tell from the video. You are importing the STL into some other program (cannot tell from the hand-held video what that program is). Each 3D print software has its own orientation logic. If you re-import that same STL into Fusion, what orientation is used?
