Description of Fusion 360 Icons and guide book.

Hi Folks.

Fusion 360 has a plethora of icons. Some are intuitively recogniseable, others less so.

For example, I now believe that this symbol indicates that a sketch is fully defined, but what does this mean. I am assuming it indicates the sketch is not complete, but this is a guess.

Can someone point me to a document that lists all the icons, with illustrations and an explanation of what the icon implies or indicates?

Secondly, is there a book recommendation that will take a beginner through Fusion 360, using the new interface.

Thanks for posting. This icon means there is a sketch profile and it is under constrained (not fully constrained or defined). Well, I couldn't find any complete list for all symbols of fusion 360. If you feel confusion about any symbol in future, post it in the forum and tag me. 🙂 I will tell you what those are.

For learning, I suggest you to check the Learn section of the forum. It is great.

Thanks for the book list. I have looked at some of them, only to find that the majority are still working on the older User Interface. As some commands have been moved around, one is then left to search for them simply to follow the tutorial. Others give no indication as to their state of play, and I am reluctant to shell out on a book that leaves me just as high and dry.

Thanks also to others for their suggestions re Icons.

Assuming it is some form of error indicator, what do I need to do to correct it?

2. white >solid (watertight)

I had created it as a reference surface for a sketch. I was able to
delete it, as no longer required.

This topic is near and dear to my heart. How would we do a search of the support documentation when we do not yet know what an icon is named? And when we know the name of an icon and want the definition that goes with the name, how would we find it in the 1800 results that are returned to our query? And please, this is not a request for a link to Amazon. I have been there.

yes. That badge on the component icon indicates that the component is external (linked). As opposed to "local" components created with the New Component command.

OK, Folks.

Line colours

I know that blue indicates an unconstrained line,

black indicates a constrained line.

But, what does a line coloured green

and a yellow line

and one coloured purple indicate?

Blue - Underconstrained object line

Black - Fully defined object line

Green - Fixed Constraint (fully defined)

Brown - Underconstrained Construction line (also dashed)

Purple - Projected geometry.

Yellow - Lost Reference

Also - Center Lines

White dots - Unconstrained

Black dots - Constrained

Green dots - Fixed

Green (actually all of these colors depend on current Environment setting).
