I am getting rather frustrated creating a simple honeycomb pattern. The pattern was created as a sketch using rectangular pattern which seems to be a performance killer.

I also tried this out with rectangular pattern outside sketch mode with feature but it equally slows down Fusion and I am unable to use partial pattern on the edges + suppression cannot be edited.

Is there a better way?

Hi,

Note:

1. Patterns should never be created in Sketch mode, except for those that have few elements.

2. in your case create 2 polygons > extrude/cut them > create pattern (feature or faces) > option: indentical or optimize.

Furthermore, it should be considered not to use the polyons but the separating bars.
A structure of this type is then placed over the cutout and joined to the remaining body.

it´s only german language, sorry

günther

Hi

Thanks for posting. As I can see, if you want to keep the design history, there is no other way than just reduce graphics performance by following this link .

If you don't want the design history let me know.

Hi,

in addition to my contribution #2

Furthermore, it should be considered not to use the polyons but the separating bars.
A structure of this type is then placed over the cutout and joined to the remaining body.

I extruded the profile in surface environment and thickened symmetrically. This gives me more variation options. The individual elements of the pattern were combined and then, after they were inserted into the cutout, blended with its outline. The element can then be saved separately and used in other designs with modification if necessary.

In the attached file I used the pattern type "Faces" because I had the best experience with it (speed).

But also try "Features" and the compute options "Identical" and "Optimized".

günther

Screencast
