Hello,

I've been having this issue for a while and it has finally pushed me to ask for help.

I have been modify the toolbar and keyboard shortcuts to taste. This usually works fine until all of a sudden M returns to a move command and not measure as I had set it. The pin to toolbar icons also disappear.

I do use different accounts on different computers. For example. I logged into a work account at home yesterday - found the settings back to default - returned some to my taste - worked for a while - logged out and then back into my personal account. This morning logging back into my work account on the same computer - the settings had reverted to default.

A search didn't come up with anything. Any ideas?

Thank you,

Parker

This is a known issue with Fusion that we would like to fix, but there are some technical hurdles we must cross.

Bottom line: When you log into a new machine, Fusion is already loaded, it doesn't have time to fetch your cloud preferences (shortcuts and toolbar customization).

This is the workaround:

Start Fusion, log in

Result: loss of shortcuts and tool customization

Do not log out. Shut down Fusion 360.

Start Fusion 360.

Result: Fusion will know who you are now and go fetch your custom items.

I run into this issue seemingly after windows updates. It drives me insane as I like to have a fully keyboard based workflow and I lose the ~20 keyboard shortcuts I have configured. This happens every few months and it's a big enough issue that I consider having our company switch to Solidworks whenever it happens.

Please fix this issue so that custom keyboard shortcuts are not lost.

Hi - never had that problem, been through many windows updates. Hate to
diagnose without adequate info, but have you tried using a different
computer? Fusion 360 wouldn't have many customers if this was happening to
everyone...

I have a work account that I use on a work computer and a personal account I use for consulting on a different computer. The issue happens on both computers/accounts. I'm not certain it happens every time windows updates, but it seems to loosely correlate with windows updates. Both computer are Windows 10 FYI.

I don't need fancy UI, a config file hidden away in the Fusion 360 program files would be great.

Since you have two accounts, and use one machine, it sounds like you might be triggering the bug.

In short, when logging in Fusion has loaded the UI before it knows who you are.

Here is the bug description and workaround:

After using Fusion as User A log out and shut down Fusion. (shutting down Fusion might be an optional step)

Start Fusion, log in as User B

Result: loss of shortcuts and tool customization

Do not log out User B. Shut down Fusion 360.

Start Fusion 360.

Result: Fusion will know who you are now and go fetch your custom items for User B.

Can you confirm that this is what happens for you?

@lrbrundrett most people don't have two accounts which is why this doesn't happen for everyone all the time, and most people with one account do not log out.

Yes - this is the only time that I had problems with losing the keyboard
shortcuts. I have not been on two machines in a long time, and it has not
happened since.

Hello,

It has happened again. And this time I am becoming more certain it is an issue related to Windows Updates.

This morning I restarted my computer (forcibly because my computer froze) and it did a windows update. When I launched Fusion 360 my keyboard shortcuts were gone again.

I anticipate that isolating with a high degree of certainty this problem would be a ton of work/might be impossible.

I have been using only one computer staying logged into Fusion 360 since the last time this has happened, so I don't think the problem relates to that as previously discussed.

All I want is for the keyboard shortcuts to be stored in a config file somewhere that I can save and backup in a secure location. There needs to be redundancy so that I can restore keyboard shortcuts. I don't care about fancy UI.

Im amazed how cool the app functionality wise, but the basic stuff like this is completely omitted. I ve just encountered this issue when switching between two accounts, or was it because windows updates, who knows right:-)

Happened to me also, installed f360 on laptop to show stuff to customer, saw that no keyboard shortcuts or settings are synchronized from my desktop, and when i came back to desktop later the opposite happens : it synchronizes the emptyness of the laptop. Really.
