Can't see text in comment box

I'm probably doing something silly but I can't find any guidance on this.

When I try and enter text in the comment box, it appears that it's writing in a white font on a white background. I see the cursor move as I type but nothing is displayed.

The buttons have lost their labels, too.

I attach an image file.

I'm running Fusion 360 2.0.8156

I've searched the forum but can't see anybody else reporting this effect.

Does anyone have suggestions? If so, please help - this is driving me nuts!

Any chance you have High Contrast turned on in Windows?

same staff. no high contrast turned on. the text in comment box has a white color while typing, and does not apper after posting

Same problem. No high contrast, dark mode enable/disable, checked F360 settings. Nothing has worked.

Not sure if its relevant, but I am having similar issues trying to share a project link. The dialog where it lists the info is blank.

The area where the link it located to copy is blank....or so it seems. If I double click in there to select the text, it appears in blue as a normal select. Seems like the font is the same color as the background.

No high contrast settings. Seems to be from the recent update as previous releases did not have this issue.

Hmm....are you using a dual video system? e.g. onboard Intel with NVidia card? If so, have you tried to disabling the onboard card to see if it helps?

Additionally, can you see if choosing File > View > Reset to Default Layout helps?

Have you changed any of the color settings under Preferences > Electronics?

Lastly, can you exit Fusion and delete the file NMachineSpecificOptions.xml file? It's located:

Windows - c:\users\{username|\appdata\roaming\autodesk\neutron platform\options

OSX - /users/{username}/library/application support/autodesk/neutron platform\options

The restart Fusion and see if it helps.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions.

Unfortunately the problem is still present.

My display contrast is not set at a strange level, so I don't think it's that.

I'm running an AMD 8370 processor on a desktop PC with a Radeon RX580 graphics card. I've never used multiple screens on this system.

I have touched preferences.

I reset to default layout and the comment box disappeared completely which wasn't helpful. It took an age to get it back, apparently I had to hide the already hidden comment box and then unhide it - aaaargh!

I deleted the NMachineSpecificOptions.xml file and reloaded Fusion - no apparent change.

I really do appreciate the help and advice of everyone. Fusion 360 is a truly great program but like all great things, it's not perfect 🙂

I have a laptop with integrated graphics and a dedicated AMD gpu. I dont know how to disable it.

As for deleting the file you suggested from Appdata...., this did not resolve the issue.

Something else I should mention, while logging in....

I was prompted for my username and I could see everything find. When I was prompted for my password, as soon as the screen was displayed for the password, all text was visible. Maybe a second after the screen displayed for password, before I even had a chance to click in the password field box to enter my password, all the text on the screen vanished. Similar to the sharing a project link. Its there, just a color that matches the white background.

If it helps, there is text that is visible prior to loading up a project. The background of the text box is slightly grey with white text. It seems like it could be a programming issue where comment box text has been set to white.

Hi,

We may have tracked this down.

Can you add the following environment variable to your system and see if it fixes the problem:

NEUTRON_WEBBROWSER_ALLOW_GPU_BLACKLIST =1

It seems to be specific to Radeon cards.

YES!!!!

That entry in the system environment variables fixed the issue - can now see text in the Comment Box!

Given a few million years, I probably would have found this myself, so thank you for saving me the trouble 🙂

Actually, I am very appreciative, not only that you found the solution but especially that you took the trouble to find it!

It completely mystifies me as to what caused this issue and why such an entry in the environment variables would fix it but I'll gladly accept the solution as it is.

I just discovered this issue today and found this thread with a Google search. It indeed worked, setting the environment variable fixed it right up.

Also confirming I am using a Radeon video card, so nothing contradicting your assessment there.
