Hi,

Im relatively new to fusion still, having previously used Solidworks.

I am trying to create a simple box with a sliding lid to hold some spacers. I have created the box and made cuts for the spacers in the box. I have now created a new component for the lid, drawn the shape of the lid using the a plane on the box component as a reference, I have then hidden the box component, but when I try extruding the sketch it is selecting all the hidden geometry from the cuts I made from the spacers on the hidden component.

I have uploaded some screenshots

Using the latest version of Fusion on Mac OS 10.14.6

Am I missing something here?

Thanks

Take a look at my Screencast. As I mention there, you can remove the Preferences check mark under Design -> Auto project geometry on active sketch plane and get the result you want. Most of the time you want this on so I would use the method I showed in my Screencast of creating a new plane, offset from the top lip by a distance of 0, and use it for your new component sketches. This will isolate the features of the previous component from coming forward.
