Thank you! I originally Copy/Pasted that crescent (as a profile) from another design & had no problem extruding/sweeping, even though it was not on a plane. I deleted the pasted version and recreated it from scratch (again not on a plane) in the same location, but could not get a working profile. I had no idea I could create an "intended" profile without a true plane, and when I did, I had no idea why it wasn't viable. I appreciate the clarification.

I have created this profile in the XY plane with no issues and can select it for extruding. However, when I create it in the YZ plane, it is not recognized a profile, just individual curves. The profile is complete, but won't select.

The crescent shaped sketch was on on the YZ plane, in fact it was not on a plane I could find at all. I am not sure how you created it. Anyway, to make it available for extrusion, I had to project the sketch twice, one to the YZ plane and then back to a plane, where your original sketch was. If I were you, I would start over and make sure you are sketching on existing or created planes in order to make your sketches viable. Model, such as it is, is attached.
