Hi. I've been trying to insert a transformer assembly into a project. The assembly is modelled in a separate project.

I originally inserted a previous version of the transformer into the main project. After updating the transformer assembly project, I pulled the update across into the main project when it registered as out of date. Strangely, the orientation of the components within the sub-assembly remained unchanged after the update. Since this didn't work, I then deleted the transformer assembly, saved and closed the master file, re-opened the master file and re-inserted the transformer. Same problem.

I've attached two pictures to show the issue. The transformer assembly should be identical in both - but clearly it isn't. Help!

Sadly, I'm unable to post the full project due to confidentiality.

In the assembly, if you right the inserted design in the browser and select Open from the menu does it open the correct file and version?

One more question, at any time have you created a copy of the transformer design using Save As? If you have, have you inserted the original and the copy into the assembly?

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I've been trying to record the activity you've described but my screen capture isn't playing ball.

If I click open on the misshapen transformer from inside my high-level design it takes me to the up-to-date transformer assembly with the desired placement.

I haven't taken any sideways copies of the transformer design. I've also repeated this on two different machines, one with Desktop Connector and one without.

I'm not sure if this could cause your problem but does the design you're inserting have a Capture Position pending?

I don't seem to get the capture icon when I move stuff. From YouTube tutorials, it's supposed to appear on the ribbon to the right of the select dropdown. Nothing there at the moment. The problem occurs right from loading the main project, before I've made any other changes.

Can you open the transformer (the the one that opens good but shows up in your assembly as "bad"), and make a full screen capture image showing the entire Fusion screen?

Another question is how are you positioning the transformer in the assembly? Are you using a joint or just move or align? If you've positioned the transformer using a joint on a feature of the transformer then moving the original part design might not change its orientation in the assembly.

I think you'll need to share the design with @Phil.E or invite him to your project to investigate.

I haven't tried jointing the transformer yet. Sadly, it loads in with the faces I would like to joint to the base pressed together. I've been moving it using a simple move command.

Inviting someone to my project sounds like it might help. It's probably a simple noob issue!
