Unfolding sheet metal error: "curve is broken into two discontinuous pieces"

I have been following along with Peter Doering's excellent video "Fusion 360 - T-Spline tiled sphere". When it comes to refolding a piece of sheet metal combined with a curved body, I encounter the error "curve is broken into two discontinuous pieces".

My steps are:

Create a sketch with a straight line and 90deg arc
Create a sheet metal flange along the arc and bend it
Combine the flange with an existing curved body
Refold

This results in the error "curve is broken into two discontinuous pieces". The error does not occur if I do not combine. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?
