It does look like something is not quite right here. Would you be in a position to share your model so we can take a closer look?
Thanks

good mesh topology breaks after converting or changing view mode?

I started making a mesh the way you usually would. I started extruding edges. I changed the view mode to the low poly version to check edge flow a little easier and eventually came out with this - a mesh that I know would smooth nicely in maya or max ~

Yet when converting to a solid, giving tickness, or simply changing the view mode it gives me these results:

Welding verts ect just breaks it even further. Nothing in the utilities panel works for repairing the mesh either, before or after the conversion/view mode change

I understand that I might be poly modeling here, something that fusion doesnt like very much but the fact it would mess up the smoothing this badly is a joke. Am I doing something wrong?

I fixed it.

So it turns out there were overlapping verts. I found this out by manipulating the verts in the lowpoly view and any other mode resulted in all verts ontop of eathother moving as one (so thats a problem)

To fix my issue I hit 'weld verts', and selected everything and gave a weld tolerance. After this, it appeared as though nothing had happened. Them from sheer luck of doing this in the right order without knowing, I THEN hit 'make uniform' - Again, it seemed like nothing had happened but if you cycle through all view modes by spamming ALT+1/2/3, it eventually updates and shows the new geo, fixed. Pretty bad.

I no longer have the geo as I thought it was broken and just didnt save. Ive tried to recreate it but I cant exactly; the fact I need to spam view modes to see the updated geo after running the 'make uniform' command still remains in any new scene I make so i guess thats a bug that needs logging
