Hello,

I'm pretty new into the 3d world. I want to send a fusion 360 file to a friend which works into solidworks 2019. I sent him .iges files.

When he opened it, the body was hollow but was full into fusion 360 . I don't know what could be the problem.

If someone has an idea to fix that, it will help me a lot.

Thank you

Solidworks should have an option to stitch and heal surfaces into a solid while importing. Another option would be to send a STEP file as most programs with read in an exported solid as a solid from STEP files.

Attach your IGES file (you might need to zip in order to Attach) and I will check in SolidWorks.

As suggested by @HughesTooling I would have used STEP, but IGES should also have worked if the user has experience with SolidWorks.

I tried to send it into .step but it's the same. When you cut the model in two pieces, it is empty. i don't know where it can come. Maybe i've made mistakes during modeling cause i'm still newbie. but when i open it into fusion and cut it in 2 pieces, it's shown as a full body and not an hollow one. My friend told me that it can maybe come from fusion, showing something full even if it isn't the case. I have really no idea.

Ive been running into the same issue, when you do the heal gaps and surfaces in solidworks it changes your model slightly, then it ask for a feature recognition which really screws things up. I've had to go back into fusion and remove all my my fillet radii in order to get a model in that didn't have holes.

Sometimes the fillet will be broke into several different pieces, especially in tangent corners, or I'll end up with a fillet that blends to another fillet and that freaks solidworks out. I havent found any easy fixes. I hoping you might have better luck

Solidworks has excellent functionality for the diagnosis and treatment of imported bodies. It was these tools that I took advantage of. There are very problematic models, but this is very rare. Fusion 360 may not find this error, while another CAD can detect it. These are just compatibility issues.

Here the error is not in one rounding. Solidworks swears at 549 faces and 3 holes when importing.
