Broken Render missing part.

First time I have run across a Render Bug of this sort. When I do an in-canvas render Body 1 disappears regardless of view angle or different settings I have tried. Running it as a Cloud Render it works fine so? Clipboard Image below shows the two Renders and differing results.

So anyone got clues ideas or similar issues with the current release?

This is a strange one. Your model renders without problem for me. (see below). Perhaps just double check body visibility, maybe close and open Fusion and try again, or even restart your computer. I've never seen a bug quite like this so until we know more, just try these simple steps and let me know please how it goes.

Just a strange bug and the Microsoft 'solution' actually worked in this case 😉

I haven't made any changes to the model since the failed local rendering and the successful cloud one and this morning local in-canvas worked as it should. So 🙈🙉🙊 not a problem unless it gets replicated by others or me on this model again.

So I have been able to replicate the failure. Similar model to the last one in that in contains a Decal but otherwise unconnected and only a single block under it in this case. Tried saving first then rendering in this case. Closed and reopended Fusion for the same result. Restarted the PC and Fusion still the same.

DOH !! expanded the insert canvas panel in width and there is a 'renerderable' tick box that was heavily truncated 🙄 Changed it to a Decal rather than a Canvas and all sorted with a reboot.

Cloud Render also failed in this case.

Wondering if the failure is connected to how the rendering process treats the Canvas's?

So the mystery deepens and may be related. I am following on as some of the individual models are already linked above. The extra one is the controller itself https://a360.co/2AC5vRj which contains two decals and the control panel https://a360.co/2ZZh3J2

When I try and include the models (the ones with Decals) the Decals are breaking and wrapping around faces they were never on in the originals? The Stepper driver model breaks too I just didn't include pictures. Any thoughts as to why?

The simple solution will be to remove them and reapply in the assembly layout but I shouldn't have to. Full broken assembly is here https://a360.co/2XZg1u0 😕

Okay, lots of questions here. I'll start by reviewing.

1. Problem 1 was a strange graphics glitch. One component would not render. That is gone after restarting the computer which sort of indicates a graphics issue. Please report it again if you see it again.

2. Canvas is not decal. Yes there's an option to render canvas, which is off by default, but it's not supposed to be used as a decal. Canvas is a backdrop you can resize and use as a reference image to draw sketches on top of, or place objects around. Looks like you worked this out yourself.

3. Last is a bug related to decal and derived parts. I'll log it. Derived components are not honoring "do not chain faces" option in the decal in the source design. It should.

Advice: Do not use derive for workflows like this. Here's why.

Derive is for using a source object as a starting point for new parts.

When you derive into a design, that part can have more work done to it that lives only in the place where you inserted it.
The source file can update and it will update the inserted copies.
Any changes in the inserted design are re-computed.

Derive Workflow: If you wanted to put a different decal on inserted copies of the source designs in the assembly, and then render it.

If you want every inserted object to be a perfect copy of the original, insert a linked design instead.

Inserting linked designs begins with a right click on the item in the data panel.
It creates a linked copy of the source design.
Any changes to the source design are then reflected in the inserted linked copies.

Linked-design Workflow: If you want to show several copies of any one object in the assembly, and do nothing but arrange and render them. This is what I think you are doing here.

Ok agreed

#1 odd ball and can't be easily recreated so possibly a random glitch and can't be bug tracked.

#2 My stuff up I have used Canvas's before for modelling from and should have hit the Decal button 'doh'.

#3 Thanks I was not aware of Linking over using the Insert Derive. In the past I have used this as often I want to include a bit I have modeled from part of an assembly in the past not the entire model. In this case it makes sense to use the link option. Interesting I just tried this with the Controller already insert derived and you can't link it as well.

Still makes sense to sort out the Decal/Derive issue regardless.

Removed the Derived one and Added the Linked one with the Decal in place 👍

As it wasn't a menu item I hadn't run across the Link option in the past and I can't think of anything on YouTube that made it obvious to use it over the derive. Top that off with my last formal CAD training being on Autocad 2.X well over thirty years ago so I am learning from scratch 😉

Progress sort of, In Canvas rendering is fine as is Cloud rendering - BUT 😖 Online informational viewing which is really what the overall aim and is broken in the Decals.

So I spent a little time on one of the models today and replaced the Decal of the LAN and two USB ports with modeled parts.

to now this

and the online shared version is now changed where it is 'broken' 🤔 Fairly clearly there is an issue with Decals and most likely as you surmised a few posts ago not respecting surface limits. How you go about testing it or defining what causes it? Stepper drivers decals are now broken and the Display panel remains broken.

To sum it up, there is a bug with Derived components and decals. A derived component with a decal does not use the decal settings in the destination design, at least not "chain faces on/off" setting.

The new issue you discovered, and thanks for posting, is due to the model viewer getting confused about decal names. In case you didn't realize it, the online view is translated from the model. This translation is seeing ScanImage001 as the decal image name in more than one design and getting confused and displaying the same image "ScanImage001" in every place that has a decal with the same name.

To fix this, name your decals. Open each model, go to the browser, click slowly twice on a decal name and change it. Make all the decals have unique names and the problem is avoided.

I gathered it was some additional processing to the actual Fusion files. I additionally gather it must break the 'linked model' concept of Fusion itself which caused the file name conflict with it? Tweaked my end and tested to work as intended.

Fixed and happy so I can get to pointing humans to it without getting comments about why it looks weird 😁

Thanks for the feedback. This is logged as FUS-127908 on the backlog.

The workaround is to use Modify > Compute all after deriving the parts with decals. That should clear up any distortions.
