Hello,

I am trying to open a DXF file that I have been sent by a colleague. The file is a large one, around 30000kb. I have allowed it to try and open for an hour or so but still no luck.

My computer spec is as follows:

Processor - Intel I7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz

RAM - 64.0GB

For the life of me I cannot understand why the file won't open, so any help would be massively appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

In my experience there is only the possibility to split the sketch into several parts.
The Fusion Sketch area is not suitable for such things.

günther

Hi Gunther.

Thanks for the reply. I am new to this software as I have previously used Creo Parametric.

How am I able to split it into separate sketches. The model came from someone using Fusion360 also.

Thanks

Josh

A DXF file that large most likely has tens of thousands of entities in it. Fusion imports DXF geometry into its constrained sketch environment, and that many entities will bring the sketch solver to its knees. Is this DXF, perhaps, a drawing? If so, it will contain thousands of entities that will do you no good in a Fusion sketch (border, title block, labels, etc). So, the ideal thing would be to strip the DXF down to just what you need. If you load it into viewer.autodesk.com, you can see exactly what this file contains. Or, you can share it here.
