This happened after adding a component to a model. A piece of it was way off to the side so I dragged it closer to the model. Now, when I try to manipulate the model using the cube, the green pivot is quite a ways from it and it’s impossible to accurately control movement/view.

Anyone know how to fix this? I did a search and tried to change the orbit point but this doesn’t help when using the cube. I’ve tried re-saving the model, restarting Fusion, and rebooting the PC and nothing helped.

Thanks, Scot

Thank you, John. I've tried but this doesn't seem to work. I seem to have been able to make it a little better, but the green pivot point still isn't on the model. I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly, but have tried to follow your instructions as best I could.

Well, let me take another stab at this. If you have "Fusion" and your setting for Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts, you should be able to orbit much easier by holding down the Shift key and your middle button. The process I told you earlier will reset this method of orbiting, not the View Cube, my bad. The other right click Orbit options apply to this method.

If you do not know how to get to Preferences, you left click on your log in name in the top right corner of the Fusion 360 desktop.

Thanks again, John. Yes, I am able to rotate the model using shift-middle mouse wheel but I find I tend to unintentionally rotate that wheel while holding it down so, while less efficient, tend to prefer to use the cube.

I would assume there’s a way to fix the cube’s pivot point as it wasn’t doing this earlier. Not sure if it’s a bug...more likely it’s me not doing things the proper way.

I found a stray component that had it's visibility hidden. That component was part of an assembly that I added to the current design. In that assembly, the hidden component was very close to the rest of the parts. But, when I added it to the current design, for some reason, it was a ways off in the distance. I thought I had found the problem, but deleting the stray component and resaving each file, the problem with the pivot point still persists.

Using shift-middle mouse wheel is actually not an acceptable solution because if I need to see the top/side/bottom view, using the cube is the most convenient method I know of. I actually do this frequently. So...I am hoping someone can help me figure out how to fix this.

Awesome! Thank you, John...that's worked! I don't quite understand how or why that works. I looked at that home menu a bunch of times and that's the one thing I didn't try! The model was way off in the distance and getting it into view was a challenge. I managed to get it centered in a good spot and made that the new home position. Once I got it to where hitting the home button would bring it back into view, I didn't want to change that home position so resetting home didn't sound like a good idea.
