The short answer is that we're working on all of the above. We don't have any dates set for releases yet, but you can keep an eye on the Public Roadmap and the periodic What's New blog posts to keep up with our progress. In the meantime, I'd suggest using Bommer for F360- it's a great add-in that that allows you to create and manage pretty sophisticated BOMs.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post or not but at work we use inventor, we also use fusion 360. We are paying for both.

We have users who love inventor and fusion. I have read about fusion being the next generation or replacement of inventor and over the past 2-3 years fusion has gotten allot better with various manufacturing and library features that I really dig. and I could almost stop using inventor if...

Fusion 360 could handle larger models better

Fusion 360 had a BOM feature

Better way to organise library (being able to drop assemblies from one project to another was huge for me)

Are there plans to enhance these features at some point?

Thanks

Luke

Fusion cannot handle assemblies over 1000 components (which is no really a lot) and definitely cannot build the spaceship shown on the splash screen. I have heard Inventor handles large assemblies better, but I have no experience myself. I can say that I often wait 30-60 minutes for small changes on my completed assemblies, even with reducing detail to a minimum. Waiting on a change now that has been going on for 15 minutes so far, so I still have time to go one for a while. Most people dont realize this problem until its too late, and they already have all their eggs in the Fusion 360 basket, as I do now. The good thing is the software is super inexpensive, but I think its really still just in Beta. Lots of bugs, and wonky things happen that make you just scratch your head and say "did I really just see that". If you do, your not going crazy, Fusion is. 🙂

@HenryDara Inventor is far better with massive assemblies - See the Angry Elf's (Jim O'Flaherty) AU talk on CADzilla. https://www.autodesk.com/autodesk-university/class/CADZilla-Returns-Fighting-and-Winning-Large-Assemblies-Inventor-2019

As long as you have the hardware (and top tier hardware for Inventor is relatively inexpensive since it relies on high clocks and little GPU) you'll have no issues.

The plus side with Fusion and Inventor is that the files are easily transferrable although the interface and software change can be a huge jump for people comfy in Fusion.

I can only say Fusion has grown leaps and bounds in the past few years and the amount of resources dedicated to Fusion will mean it can only get better.
