Hi Everyone,

I've read up on this and I understand changing the sheet metal thickness is sometimes not possible if it is picking up the thickness from a body that has been converted to sheet metal. In which case, changing the body thickness is the solution.

I am having a slightly different issue. I started a new design, in which I inserted a new sheet metal component (I think I read somewhere this is rule #1??), and selected my sheet metal rule.

After modelling the whole thing, it turns out I need to change the thickness but I can't. Even if I roll back to the point when I inserted the new sheet metal component, I can't see how to adjust it. Any ideas?

Even more annoyingly, I still had to "convert to sheet metal" to get a flat pattern, even though I started out with a new sheet metal component. So in thinking starting out with a sheet metal component would be the right way to do it, it seems like it's the worst of both worlds!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Please attach your model. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Where you are making your error is during the Combine commands. I did not look at all of them but when using this command, in sheet metal, you must select the existing sheet metal body as the TARGET and the other bodies as the Tool Bodies to maintain the result as a sheet metal body. Take at look at your first Combine in the timeline, you will see this fact.

Attached in your model with the corrected Combines. Note there is no Sheet Metal conversion required. This is because I used the Existing sheet metal body as the Target for the Combine.

EDIT: I also cleaned up your multiple combines as there is not need for more than one.

You can also change the sheet metal thickness, even on a converted model, by going to your Sheet Metal Rules, click on the pencil on the Converted one and change the value of the thickness in the dialog box. You made a few modification sketches along the way so I cannot be certain all the sketches will follow the sheet metal thickness change.
