combine tool is not working

Hi,

I've spent the last 3 hours trying to combine a body with a sheet-metal body. I've done this a 1000 time on similar projects with it working fine.

Now, when I try it says:

Error: There was a problem combining geometry together.
If attempting a Join/Cut/Intersect, try to ensure that the bodies have a clear overlap (problems can occur where faces and edges are nearly coincident).
Failed to Boolean bodies together

I also get error messages like:

Error: inconsistent edge-face relationships

Both sides to join are flat and the same size so I don't know why it would be having an issue. I'm also not a stranger to fusion so have tried a number of things.

Can someone please help?

The .f3d file comes out at 274mb. Is this normal?

From the screen grabs you can see it’s not that complex.

I am now getting this error message:

As i said, the file is over 270mb so it won't fit in an email or an attachment hear.

What should i do?

I guess you either can cut out the section in the original file that is giving you issues and post it or you could go to your data panel and share a public link. If you do that, make sure your check the box to allow download. Once you have the public link, given to you during the process, post it to the forum.

Link is good, downloaded. Now you mention a sheet metal body that you are trying to combine to what? There is only one sheet metal body but your pictures and description do not tell what you are trying to combine to.

I'm trying to connect "body61" to "body63". For some reason, I was able to connect one of the end pieces to the central shaft. when I did this, the "sheet metal body" was converted back into a normal body.

I have tried every trick I know but I have not found a workaround to the main body inconsistency. I hope someone else can find the issue not only for your design, I would like to learn something.

Hi,

After a few minutes of waiting, I felt like a waitress on the sinking Titanic, checking the correct arrangement of the cutlery on the tables in the saloon.
My tip: warnings in the course of a design should be followed up immediately, but at the latest with the next following error message.

I did not get any warnings, just an error message.

Are there any unresolved issues (highlighted yellow or red) in you Timeline?

This entire modeling process does not look efficient to me.

For example, the first 5 features could have been made with one Extrude with Taper feature, in position with no Moves. This is a simple pattern. Forget Move (and Align in this case).

I recommend that you do not use Combine where ZTG (Zero Thickness Geometry) would result.

Hi,

1. the occurrence of warnings (yellow) and errors (red) can be seen in the timeline.
2. while connecting the bodies I guessed a bit, because I had not found body 63.

I did the connection of the elements from #1 with the point to point variant.

Ok.

What I don’t understand is why it was not combining for me?

I’ve done similar projects and never has an issue with connecting bodies together.

How can I stop it from happening again in the future?

I have not had time to open the model yet, but just looking at it in Fusion Team/A360, I can bet what the problem is: These kinds of errors happen in Combine with "nearly contiguous" geometry - you can tell from the Z-fighting here that you have some bodies/components that have faces that are pretty close to the same, but may vary a tiny bit from each other:

this condition will often cause those kinds of errors. If you are positioning bodies using Move, if they are not positioned extremely accurately, that will cause problems.
