Did you ever try to deploy Fusion 360 in a classroom. Tried the lab install, the -globallinstall option.

Install works until the end but we are unable to launch the softaware. It apprears multiple times in taskmanager but never launches... We have to give admin rights to students to install it ! Such a shame for a 2022 software ! Autocad install is so simple, why not use the same method ??

Fusion 360 sucks flat out no other way around in. Takes several minutes to load. Crashes frequently, takes forever to preform tasks, won't preform tasks. It is a pile

@Anonymous Sorry that you are frustrated with Fusion 360. How can we help.

I see that you have series of issues that you pointed out, can we start with the load time and the frequent crashes.

1. Can you go to Help - > Support & Diagnostics - > Get the Diagnostic log files and attache the generated zip file?

2. When you crash are you submitting your crash error report that gets generated with your email ID filled in? It would help if you do that so that we can find you in the backend to see what kinds of crashes you are encountering.

It would be good to have your machine specs as well to see if that is a contributor to the issue that you are seeing.

It also regularly happens that fusion360 crashes (sometimes even had the document no longer wanting to open). This problem is not with my computer system. In the beginning Fusion360 was a fast and stable program, but this is no longer the case.
That's why I switched to Rhino3D. I only use Fusion360 to make 2D drawings, flatt patterns and for generating CNC milling operations.
I am also afraid that the basic subscription will be completely stripped and that you will spent a fortune on cloud credits.
First was very satisfied with Fusion360.

Hello, Wardwellz

I come from the SOLIDWORKS environment and recently made the switch to fusion, cuz money... but before I did, I tried A LOT of solutions. Frankly, Fusion is an awesome product AND is very cheap. I don't say that to lick their boots, I worked at a SOLIDWORKS reseller for almost 5 years and nothing compares to this. I was like an old man used to work with his favorite tool and bitching about all the others... But Fusion changed my mind.

Yes, the workflow is a bit different, a few things take a bit more of work to do, but the integrated file management system is really solid, the mesh editing options are a big plus to the offering and you get to manufacture your parts and render them in the same ecosystem.

The software is also fairly lighter than others and so far I didn't have any issues regarding crashes. Yours might be caused by an outdated graphic card driver or by forcing a habit from another software that isn't compatible with Fusion.

I encourage you to keep your mind open to new ways to model and search this forum for some help when needed. a few educational videos could help too, it did in my case.

Cheers!

I have been using Fusion 360 for about a year, and I would say that yes, Fusion does crash very frequently, and has lots of errors and whatnot. I do not know of a better option unfortunately, I think we are stuck with the crashes, bugs, and nonfunctionality inherent to Fusion 😞

Today alone, my Fusion has crashed about 10 times doing basic tasks, such as splitting a body using a plane. For me, Fusion will just stop responding, and will never end the loop of not responding, so I can't submit the crash report. The issue of not responding happens very often to me, almost every single action, even rotating your model, will cause Fusion to stop responding. I noticed that this didn't happen when I first downloaded Fusion, but it slowly started happening more and more, to the point now where like I said, doing just about anything will cause Fusion to stop responding. Sometimes it will come back after a minute or two, but often it gets stuck in an infinite loop.

I could go on and on about all the different errors I've encounterd with Fusion, but I don't have the time, especially when half my time is wasted waiting for Fusion to function when I'm using it.

Unfortunately, I cannot share this file because of ITAR restrictions. These issues do happen more frequently when I am working with converted meshes, but the issues also happen from files I have built from scrath. One file that has been giving me some trouble is one with no imported features, they were all made from scrach in Fusion. This file has upwards of a thousand individual bodies (the file is the capsule of a rocket, similar to SpaceX Dragon). I get alot of not responding issues in the render and animation workspace, just about any action will cause Fusion to stop responding briefly.

I need better performance from Fusion, as most of the work I do involves high-facet count meshes or components with thousands of bodies. What can I do to make the program not crash so often? This is the only program on my computer that give me this many issues. My computer can run ANSYS, SKT, and LS DYNA just fine, so I would assume Fusion 360 should be a piece of cake.

Also I would like to mention that I do not have the time to wait for Fusion to start responding. I recently tried validating a solid body (50 k facets) without any repairs and let it sit on 'not resonding' for an hour. I noticed that if I clicked the screen to get the pop-up "Fusion is not responding...", it would expidite the process. Or rather, just leaving it on not-responding without touching anything makes its go much longer, if it even finishes at all.

I just ran over your headline whilst searching for solutions for the uncountable Fusion 360 bugs. I really wonder how companies can run a business with this software.

Coming from NX and Solidworks using Fusion 360 is a real pain and I see a lot of risks to create really expensive mistakes. Especially the drawing-section with all its missing features and unassociated help-sketches drives me crazy. Now I am running into new issues with undeletable files...

Honestly Autodesk, how can you sell this to anyone but hobbyists? This is by far the worst CAD system I have ever seen!

Sorry for highjacking this thread, I just loved the headline. Every day working with Fusion 360 is a day full of anger and headache.

EDIT... only complaining is kind of stupid. So here the issues I had to fight just today:

- Drawing dimension loose their association for no reason (sometimes in the moment you place it).

- Help-sketches in drawings are not associated to the drawing view. This is a very high risk for drawing mistakes, especiall in a multi user enviroment. And it really reminds me of MS Paint...

- You cannot measure dimensions greater than 180° in drawings. This is a huge problem for supplier communication sometimes.

- It is not possible to change the reference for drawings. This creates a lot of extra work when working with external supplier updates coming as STEP or IGES files. Something like SWX 3D-interconnect would be nice.

- No arc length dimensions in drawings... is this a 21st century software???

- It is impossible to delete a unwanted file if it has references. Even if these references are directing to an old version of another file. A warning would be okay and senseful, but the user should be allowed to decide by himself to delete or not to delete.

And this is just the fun I had today! I hope this post can save others from running into the Fusion-trap. You get what you pay for!

Have you compared the price tag of Fusion 360 with the other software packages you mentioned?

While you educate yourself on pricing, don't forget that Fusion 360 includes a full-featured CAM package. YOu'll have to add that to NX or Solid Works.

In my 30 years of experience with numerous CAD systems, I've learned that price is a great expectation leveler 😉

You are right, I should have given more details about what is wrong instead of just complaining. Sorry about that! I edited the post above to give more information to potential users.

But here is the thing:

The CAD-users often do not decide about the software to use. So a very high skilled cost manager looks at the pretty self confident claims that Autodesk makes about their software and thinks "Hey, this sounds really good. And it's cheap. We will take it!"

In the end the company might have a lot of trouble and switch back to <STRIKE>a proper</STRIKE> another CAD-software with a lot of time and money lost. I guess our current project will find its way home to SolidWorks once enough money is burned.

So my clear opinion is that Fusion 360 is not suitable in an professional multi user enviroment that depends on a highly reliable software. And by giving big claims it is no wonder that Fusion 360 is compared to SWX.

Another EDIT: I think Fusion 360 is great for hobbyists and single users that are looking for great 3D-capabilities and a CAM module at a reasonable price. Once you need to have a professional customer/supplier communication I see issues comming up. My guess is that Autodesk has trimmed the drawing section by purpose to avoid internal competition with their other products.
