If you uncheck Show Profile on the sketch palette the offset generates instantly. I guess with all the overlapping circles you've created it giving Fusion a hard time finding all the closed areas. What are you going to do with all the circles when you have them. Might be a good idea to use more than one sketch and maybe add a Fix constraint to each circle when you have it positioned and sized so the sketcher has an easier time.

High memory usage (possible memory leak?)

Hello there-

I have noticed that Fusion360 has been using a lot of memory, even when no model is open, directly after a PC restart. The memory is freed if I close fusion, then reopen, but it quickly rises from 100MB to about 700MB, and when I open this specific model: https://a360.co/2Ca7iyi it jumps to 950MB or thereabouts. When I use either the circle or offset sketch tools, the memory usage increases to around 1100MB and causes Fusion to stop responding until the compute is completed.

I tried to optimize fusion via setting the model quality on zoom to low, switching off the shadows on active models, increasing the minimum frame rate required to ignore certain features, etc. I also optimized my PC and it works very quickly even when Fusion isn't responding. I have 8GB RAM, and the graphics card is factory (I have an Acer with an Intel i5 Processor).

I have created significantly more complex models than this in the past, on a laptop with less processing power, and never encountered this issue. I am wondering if it's because of how many circles I have sketched in the last sketch in the timeline, but I've done models with many more circles, and had no problems. There are also no warnings/errors in the timeline, and I've been using Fusion for a few years, and have a decent idea of how to avoid them.

Note: If I sketch a circle and then offset it in a brand new workspace, there is no issue.

This problem should be reproducible by editing the last sketch, and offsetting any of the circles, OR, by sketching a new circle. My second screenshot was the usage after I tried to delete a circle.

I appreciate any insight that might help me resolve this!

Hi Mark, I will be extruding the intersections of the circles, to cut through the main body. Switching off the "Show profiles" in the sketch pallet actually helped a lot! The memory usage is still high (around 1000MB), but it isn't slowing down the PC anymore. It doesn't allow me to make selections for the extrusions I want to make, anymore though! Would I need to re-enable the "show profiles"?

Yes but it will take some time to calculate the profiles so wait until you finish all the profiles. I'd try using more than one sketch. In the sketch you have you've projected the profiles from the body this spline will probably add a lot to the calculation.

Yep, I'll split it into multiple sketches. At least I know the source of the slow-down, so I can deal with it now. Thanks very much!
