fusion custom metric thread

Hi All, i tried adding a new m48 x1.25mm thread to fusion by following from this discussion...

Non Standard Threads - Autodesk Community

i fould the directory with all the thread files, created my own and saved it but it doesnt show up in the thread tool widndow. am i missing a step?

Did you restart Fusion after adding the your thread to the thread file?

Yep. Well, unless there's a specific way of restarting other than clicking the x button. I also restarted the computer

Fusion is very fussy about the formatting of the xml so if any part of it isn't quite right then it won't show up in your list. Unfortunately Fusion usually aborts processing any further thread files as well, so any files after it alphabetically won't show up in your list either. If you're interested, I've developed an application to make working with Fusion threads easier (you'll find a link to it in my signature below). You'll also find a forum thread here where I post custom thread files. I've just added M48x1.25 for you to the ISO Metric Non-Std file in the zip file attached to the 1st post.

i tried your app but couldnt get it to work probably because im on the free version. i actually got the 1.25 m48 setup in the xml file and it then worked. the external thread came out perfect when i printed it on my k1 max but the internal was too tight to screw onto the external. would you mind writing the code block designations for m48 x 1.25 optimised for 3d printing? ill buy you a coffee 🙂

If you let me know how much you want it oversize then I can certainly do that for you. If you're not sure how much oversize you need it then you can try offsetting the thread with different values until you're happy with the fit. You'll find a link to some instructions on the correct way to do this in my signature. However, I'd like to know what aspect of my app didn't work for you as then I can try to fix it. I'm not aware of any restrictions in the free version of Fusion that would cause it to fail.

apologies, i never got to try your app after, it was threadkeeper not showing up that i was mixed up with. ill play around some more with tolerances, i was at it for 2 hrs earlier and mostly resulted in errors

Ah, ok, although I'm not aware of any issues with ThreadKeeper on the free tier of Fusion.

If you're editing the thread file manually, just make sure that you're adding the same amount to each of the three diameter values: Major, Minor, and Pitch dia. Have you tried offsetting the threads as suggested in my previous post?
