Hello!

I am writing to see if anyone knows how to add seats to our school's Fusion 360 license. Our Autodesk account states that we only have 1 seat available for Fusion 360. This seat is currently assigned to me (I'm the account administrator). We are a verified Educational Institution with Autodesk and our account is active. I've tried contacting support with no response as of yet (it's been about a week.)

Here is how the Fusion 360 license appears in our Autodesk account:

Every support article I've seen only applies to non-education licenses.

Best!

Hi @Anonymous,

Fusion 360 licenses are named user rather that network/multi-seat. Each user will need to create an account, and verify their education status as part of obtaining an education license. You can find more info about this process in this PDF.

Thanks for the reply. I just feel the process for the student to obtain an edu licenses is a bit cumbersome. Also, our students are not permitted to install software on district/school owned devices.

As a network admin I had installed it one a few systems for deployment testing purposes. I created a couple of accounts again for testing but cannot seem get it to register as the edu version. So I assume at that point in order for a student to use it they must go through the "registration" process.

Hi @Anonymous,

The students don't have to install anything, they just have to log in to activate and access their files.

You do need educational accounts with Fusion 360 requested to activate the software.

The process for getting a student license is relatively simple provided they have identification as shown here: https://damassets.autodesk.net/content/dam/autodesk/www/industries/education/docs/verification-faq.pdf

I created a Student account and it's asking for student identification to verify their eligibility. Fusion 360 also shows it's in Trial mode when logged in to the student account. Looks like we will have to go through the verification steps for each student. I really would have preferred Autodesk to offer an option to use device licenses if their named license process is this involved.

Hense my previous comment. What would be easier if say the IT admin could have their email domain registered as an education. Then if a student registers for an auto desk account and uses that domain, they are automatically registered.

Last year I had no problems at all. I uploaded emails and assigned the students to Fusion 360. I definitely had enough seats to have 2 classes using fusion under my education account.

This year, I cannot assign to 1 student because I only have 1 seat! I have emailed Autodesk over 3 weeks ago and had no response. Is this the way they are trying to get me to buy a license? Why is no one responding and why is it different this year?
All very frustrating as I am trying to use the software with Yr9 students to promote and embed the use of fusion, I might have to change my plans as this is too much effort!, I might have to buy a cheaper bit of software that is more straightforward to manage!

Hello
I think the situation is similar:
1- Technical support is not an Autodesk trainer, it is specialized in equipment and system and does not know about software licenses.
2- Thankfully, Autodesk provided educational licenses, but it has several systems, some for the student, some for the Educator, some for the network, and others for cloud,,, etc.
3- Login to my account in Autodesk differs from that of my colleague for reasons I do not know. My account in the mechanics department is different from the architectural department, and the options are different.
4- I was able to get a server license and now I am working on AutoCAD perfectly., but I have failed so far with Fusion 360 to prepare and add seats to my account to give them to students.

I think that the best solution for everyone is to reduce the options and types of licenses and stick to them. In fact, I have a plan B to work with other programs because I do not guarantee that I will always get this license, and it may stand in the middle of the chapter without prior notice, as stipulated in the user agreement.

We are still using the MasterCam and we are planning to move to Fusion 360. I prepared the curriculum, but I failed to prepare the program!
Thanks

Unless I missed something, there was nothing in this PDF about "adding more seats to Fusion 360"

I have an account, I know how to add users, but I need more than 3 seats.

Could I pay for more? I need about 15

Education users qualify for a free Educator/Student license with verification of their Autodesk account. There is no concept of "seats" under a single license in Fusion 360 - each Fusion user has their own Autodesk account and license, and collaborates on project data through Fusion Team.
