Hi, I've been trying to create a gradual fade in of a surface similar to the Beyblade stadium image where the surface blend into the other in a specific area (this was the best visual i could find of what I'm trying to achieve). I've tried fillets, lofts, variable fillets, the form edit etc. and still can't quite get it right. This tutorial has the effect but it doesn't work well with a circle and is quiet convoluted (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC2eFI7J_cU). there must be a simple way but it's driving me nuts not being able to achieve it. can someone please help.

No idea what that thing is, too much clutter, but a transition ramp style thing as either lip or groove inside the red circle?

Loft will do it.

Might help....

I tried loft but couldn't get it right. Purely want a partial transition level like the now yellow circle. Between 2 levels and different sized circles seems to cause me issues.

Thats where I thought you were going.

I mocked up the lip - made a model of the hole, if you get what I mean.

Technique is the same, size and shape is not so relevant.

Need your data - File > Export and I will see what geometry you have to make it work.

Might help...

Thanks, I'll export the file when I get home and uploaded. I think my issue is I'm trying to do a multi level semi circle (widened bowl shape) and add the lip seemlessly with the contour/ gradient of the bowel shape. I'll add the file later but this is the screen cap of it from the discord chat.

As you did not have a sketch 3, I have made an educated guess.

The geometry does not lend itself to the problem, with the creased shelf, and the Loft has to put that somewhere (Not pretty). Moving the mapping handles for a better outcome fails.

Move Tool is not recommended, edit the sketch instead.

Step up the timeline, happy to answer questions.

Might help....

Thanks for that, I stepped through and think i understand what you did. my original sketch was in there but i see the sketch you did the extruded. I'll had a play to see if i can replicate it. if not i might pick you brain. THANKS!

Fusion does it.

I take this shelf, and Loft it to a centre line body spline edge (blue). Fusion decided where to put them.

Left side of the surface loft, is a spline, no creases, so I let Fusion fade the crease in the solid body off to zero, by the time it gets to the centre line. Mirror this body, and it is used as a cutter to change the top faces of the pie shaped body.

Might help....
