Trace with tool on center gets it done, select one row or column of sketches then create linear pattern, in this case two of them.

When you create linear pattern, look for way to repeat the selection X number of times with same result, measure distance between elements so you can enter the value in required field and chose direction by selecting axis.

Hello,

I have an issue creating evenly shaped diamonds in fusion 360. When you look at the attached picture you see that the one side, where the Router starts to go in, is nice and sharp. The other side is just round. I have no clue why the results differ since it is just a symmetrical shape. I used the engrave module with an 2D shape.

The test project can be found under the following link.

https://a360.co/36sUjSI

The linked project uses 4 passes to slowly cut away the wood. But i gave it a shot with just one pass and very slow movement which resulted in the same issue.

I have tried several things and I am pretty sure it has something to do with Fusion and not my router nor my bit. I would be happy if someone can give a some advice how to convince Fusion360 to do the right thing. If you need anything else to help me please let me know.

Killimanjaro

It might be because you are only using sketches and not solid bodies so fusion does not know what side of the sketch to follow. You might be "outside" from 12 to 6 oclock then "inside" from 6 to 12. Also engrave is kind of a 3D toolpath in that it lifts up to maintain a sharp corner. perhaps you want [2D Contour] or [Trace].

Also I would only draw only diamond. Make it a solid. then put that into an array to make modeling and editing easier.

Hello John,

thank you for your advice on my issue. So far the workflow in Fusion worked out quite well and I am positive that i can create sharp corners with that. I will try to give my CNC another shot next weekend so I will definitely write back if the "Trace" function helped on that regard. After that I will mark that post as solved obviously 🙂

Curieaner
