topic Step over feed speed setting for 2D pocketing op? in Fusion Manufacture Forum

Hello Forum,

I am making an 6061 aluminum bushing that's 1" deep x 2.75" dia. I am using 3 flute End mill and a 0.045" step over, .25" DOC with a .75" center drilled hole to ease starting the 2D pocket. Every time the end mill does the step over there is end mill chatter? Worst at the smaller diameters and reduced as the mill works to the outside of the pocket. I tried 3 times, slowing down the Lead In speed, to no effect. My indicated IPM does not change on the DRO, as the step overs are performed, either. Is there some way to slow the rate at which the step overs occurs? I tried changing the lead in shape/angle too. No change. Last version of my file is attached.

Jgaertner

Why don't you use Adaptive? It offers constant engagement without interruptions. See attached.
