Hi,

I am contouring in 2D with a limit (stock contour), multiple-path and ramp lead-in. It generates an open path with the following warning:

Open passes are linked with both ways zig-zag ramp

And so the toolpath is going back and forth as if I had ticked the "both ways" checkbox. Not a big issue in this demo project but on a bigger one, the toolpath is going back contouring the whole contour instead of going up/out from the stock and to replace itself at the beginning of the contour.

How can I make the tool enter with ramp, do the contour, go up/out and move back to origin, enter with a ramp to do the 2nd pass contour, go out etc

Without ramp option, the toolpath is doing it as expected

Demo project: https://a360.co/3f0S5hb

@Anonymous

It is a bit odd, not sure why the tool will not retract between passes. It looks like the sketch boundary is causing this issue. I also noticed that you programmed with conventional cutting rather than climb cutting. Not sure if that was on purpose or not, but it had no effect.

I tried a 3d contour and it looks like it does the job and you have the ramp control you are looking for. Here is a link to the updated project.......https://a360.co/3e9PTTt

Hopefully this is what you were after.

Well it is nearly how I wanted to be but the tool was entering into the stock in the middle of the toolpath. By setting a 10deg ramp, it worked as expected.

Thanks for the workaround but I would like an admin to take a look and make a bug report because it doesn't make sense to make a 3D contour where a 2D contour should make it!

My bad: with 10° ramp, it is not making any ramp at all...
