Im not 100% sure that I am grasping the problem, but every setup I have ever done on CNC in my machine shop has always had Z0 point at the top of my job, model or stock. That way you are only ever cutting into the job a negative Z value. That way, any clearance, rapid or default machine default movements in a Z positive value are always above the work piece.

John

Hello colleagues, I have a 3-axis CNC router with RichAuto A15 control. There is one Safe Height parameter in the controller. This parameter is Z axis lifting height during processing. System default is 40.000mm. Can I set compensation for these 40mm in Fusion?

Although I use Vcarve pro (still learning Fusion360), I struggled with this as well. Even though I set the Z-starting position at 65mm above zero in Vcarve, it would only go to the default setting of 40mm. That was ok while I was cutting materials 20mm and thinner, but ran into a problem when I needed to cut into a 40mm thick piece of material, and used the machine bed as zero (just out of habit). all was good when I set zero to material height, but I changed mine to 60mm in any case. I doubt this is the correct way to go about it - I will do some more research on this matter.

If you want to change it (please do so with caution) use the controller and ;

press Menu - go to "auto pro setup" - select "safe height" and adjust.

when you set your WCS if you do it off the top of the stock then the 40 will be above your zero, otherwise, the 40 mm lift is nuances as you guys have found, could the post-change it automatically you would have to get someone into to find out or ask the manufacture of the machine or controller, is anything about it in its manual.

I have the A11, but i think they are pretty similar. When i get to the value, I have to press the "ON/OFF" (which also has the . on it) to be able to edit the value. hope I understand correctly, and that it helps.

i used to do the same but found that when I do trough cuts and zero to the machine bed, it cuts through perfectly, and my sacrificial spoil board lasts so much longer. I haven't replaced it since i started doing just that.

G59? Can it reverse the direction of rotation of the spindle with command M04?
