So from your text I assume you are turning the fixture option off in setup1 because it would interfere with simulation in setup 2?

I'm failing to understand why it messes with the second setup. Is it because you are seeing the fixture in the environment when you are simulating? Because if that is the case I wouldn't disable it in the first setup, just disable the fixtures visibility.

Because when simulating CAM fixtures from Setup 1 are still interacting with Setup 2's operations, despite this setup having no fixtures, I need to turn Setup 1's fixtures On then Off then On again repeatedly.

It would be nice that in doing so I don't have to re-select my fixtures again and again. There is a dedicated x button in the UI for removing the current fixtures selection, so I can use that when I want them to go away. But if I simply chose not to use fixtures that should not mean that they be also removed from the list.

There is a bug/limitation of the simulation environment in which if a body is introduced in the environment it lives there until the simulation ends. Thus, if setup1 introduces fixtures they keep on living and operations in setup2 interact with them even if they are not visible.

See this sample project: https://a360.co/2Kr2qZv

I use the view/visibility sync feature so please turn that on then simulate _both setups_ together after you activate Setup2. The results is this:

The fixture is not visible but it is there and the tool collides with it.

So I have to go back to setup1, disable the fixtures, then simulate again. This works until I need to change something in setup1. Now I need fixtures again. And it is not enough to re-enable them, I have to add them since they have been removed from the setup.

Hmm.

I think I'm starting to understand what's going on.

And My solution is to start using the in-process stock. So instead of defining your stock for the second side, use from preceding setup and enable continue rest machining. This means you only have to simulate the second setup instead of them combined.

That could pe a solution but IPS does take a lot from system's overall
performance as it has to update meshes after each tiny operation edit.

I'd rather not use IPS but instead just toggle features on/off.

And one day maybe Fusion will improve it's handling of detached stock and
undefined fixtures and remove thinks that should no longer exist in the
environment, adding others if needed.

I'm not saying I don't see the annoyance of when turning something off the settings go away.

I have the same irritation with stock to leave for example. As your settings are forgotten.

I do think though what you are running into here means more works needs to be done on the in-process stock to make it a viable solution for you as well. I mean if you want to use machine simulation down the road, there would be no way around in-process stock if you ask me. So should be made to work so you would want to use that.
