Thanks for you're advices, but in my case best and fastest way to make holes with "exchangeable tips drill" and after that make radius like engineguy mentioned.

Hi,

If i need to do chamfers or radius on holes i must select it manually. When i have 5 or 15 holes it's ok, but if i need to select hundreds or thousands it is big problem. Is there some way to select all holes with same diameter or other faster way?

Second problem is that i can't order the way it will machine this radiuses.

At the moment, your only option is to select the sketch that created these features. It's not going to get it 100% right, as I suspect that some features will be machined on the wrong side.

This functionality is something we are aware of and are exploring possible solutions

I do apologize, I gave you bad advice. The method I described earlier in this thread DOES NOT work. Your best option at this point would be to program one hole and then put it into a Pattern > Duplication, selecting the same point on each circle. Here, the projected sketch would be of some use, as you can quickly select the center point of each hole.

When i need to drill it is not a problem, i have a few options. But I'm speaking about chamfering. When i need to chamfer or make radius on all holes, only way to select holes is manually each hole.

There is a way to do what I think you are looking for, that is to use the 2D Contour Chamfer option as there is a way to select multiple edges in a single "click", not immediately obvious but it is an option that I have found to be very useful 🙂

Rather than try to type it all here I have done a small Screencast to show the method used, I did forget to mention in the Screencast it will select ALL edges so if there are some different size holes they will be selected too, anyway, have a look at the Screencast, it may not be just what you need but maybe if you "play around" with some settings it may get you nearer 🙂 🙂 🙂

In your image it looks like all the holes are in a Pattern, if yes then you can do them in Manufacturing by using the "Toolpath Pattern" and just selecting one hole and using a "Linear Pattern" to set how many Toolpaths you want in the X and Y axis. I have done a small Screencast that may help you if you don`t already know how to do this 🙂

Here is an off the wall approach to your part. This example is using an end mill with a 45 degree chamfer on it that is custom made, this company makes excellent form tools, AB Tools, Inc. | Carbide Cutting Tools and Milling Tools (abtoolsinc.com). The attached sample has a 45 degree chamfering edge on it, you should be able to get a radius edge created also. By using mill bore, you can select all the holes at once, and you control how much of a chamfer you want by controlling the depth. One consideration to make of course is cycle time. Your drilling process might be faster, but programing might take longer, you will have to make that determination on your own.

Regarding the form tool, you might even be able to have the tool made with a drill point. Use the form tool to first drill all the holes, leaving a small amount on side walls, then use bore to finish the holes. On the bore cycle, you could cheat and not start at the top of the hole but maybe .100" or so from the bottom to make the cycle shorter. Just an idea.

Leo C

maybe this is a dumb answer but could you not spot drill all the holes first to a depth that would give you the chamfer you need after you finally drill the holes

please ignore if I am way off target

He implied that some of the holes are radiused at the top, but yes, that would be a great option.

Leo C

Thanks for you're advices, but in my case best and fastest way to make holes with "exchangeable tips drill" and after that make radius like engineguy mentioned.
