Sure thing, here is the link: https://a360.co/3rIKGcD

I have set it with default lead in and out and selected 5 finish passes at .1 overlap. You will see it only does the outer most pass and ignores the rest with a warning about lead in. It takes a "linear Lead In Distance" value of about .145 to get it to generate the passes.

Also I have noticed the check mark for "Leads on all finishing passes" doesn't work. When "Un Checked" it still continues to plot the lead in and lead out on all passes.

I am trying to create a 2D contour. My tool is not large enough to cover the entire area. Say for example a .5 Boss sticking up from a 2" Boss. Trying to contour it with "Multiple Finish Passes" as the hover image shows, seems to be what I want, but when I enable it, and specify a "Step Over Amount", All I get is a single pass Offset by this amount, and not multiple passes .

What am I doing wrong?

Hi @changedsoul

2D contour is not model aware so by ticking the box for multiple passes, you need to give it the information required i.e. number of stepovers, stepover distance etc. So from the sound of it, it may be this throwing you off. If you share your model I'd be happy to take a look.

Thanks

Well what it seems to be doing is selectively working. After playing around, I found if I increase my step over, I also need to increase the lead in.

It was the lead in causing fusion to not generate the extra passes.

Thanks for the help though.

Glad you got it working in the end, I'd be interested to have a look at why the lead in is causing it to ignore the second stepover though. Would you be able to attach your file anyway just for me to investigate this further?

Thanks

Hi @changedsoul

I think i have found what is causing it. It seems to be causing the issue because you have "in control" selected as your compensation type. As you can see in the attached screenshots, i have the 2D contour toolpath generated but have the compensation type set to "in computer". Think i will submit a ticket to development on this just to see why the compensation type is affecting this. Do you normally use "in control" often as your compensation type? I have attached the project i have added to for your reference.

Cheers

for finishing yes, I always use in control. If I use in computer, i get no adjustment on the machine, and if I use wear, I get errors on the machine because the tool setter auto stores the diam of the tool when measuring.
