A Swarf Cut on a project I'm working on is gauging the part on entry. (Not a lead in) I've tried extending the "Tangential Fragment Distance", but the part is not at the proper angle until it's already cutting.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

Or....

Should I model new geometry?

The Fusion file is attached. The Operation is "Setup-1" Folder "Tool 4 Crazy Town" Swarf1 (2)

Thanks for any assistance!

Gouge

Tool was gouging model on entry because ends of selected drive curves were aligned with angled face of a model.

I wanted tool to be perpendicular to model top as it enters the cut. I noticed some inconsistency with model surfaces at the bottom of feature so I created offset surface with zero offset value to bypass that.

Next, I created plane offset to end point of bottom edge of surface and used plane as cut tool to get rid of section that was at angle.

I used "Model" option in operation and selected drive curves from new surface rather than main model.

Now top and bottom drive curves are aligning tool in vertical position as it enters the cut and tool no longer goudges model as a result of entering cut in tilted position parallel to model face.

This produced cut that was not including angled section of model at start and end of pass so I used tangential extension to fix that.

I could have used plane to split surface of main model instead of creating new surface but I had problem selecting edges off of a model so I used duplicate surface to get it done.

That's awesome! Thank you for showing me why I'm having trouble with Swarf ops. In this instance, the start and stop of the selected curves or surfaces need to be Perpendicular. Another option would have been to Duplicate the model and remove the angle on the end. Got it!

This was very helpful. Thanks again!
