No retract after tool change.

Hi. We've recently changed from a cnc with manual tool change to auto tool change. However after a tool change, the spindle doesn't retract before starting the program, which will result in a collision with the bed.

We have so far been able to add the retract to the g code manually, but looking for this to become a default setting.

The machine manufacturer has suggested this is a Fusion issue.

It has a Syntec processor.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

What codes are you manually?

If the G28 isn't working for you (it "should" be retracting home), you might need to swap to the G53 option.
One other thing; you are using the Syntec post processor, right?

Thanks for your reply. I tried both, G28 and G53 and it still doesn't produce a save retract after the tool change. And yes we have a Syntec controller unit and using the default Syntec option for the NC code

Good Morning, What kind of machine/tool changer are running that you need a retract after tool change? Or did you mean before? Usually the machine will retract on a tool change. I posted out a program with the Syntec Post and it outputted retract before each tool change as I would expect.

Thanks for your reply. See attached. We had the tool changer positioned moved from its original position on the gantry to preserve usable z axis height. Now it's level/below the bed.

Obviously it's needs to retract after the tool change to avoid running into the bed.

Hey I'm back, Attached is the Syntec post from the library that I modified. I added line 828 and 829. This should work for you, let me know.
