Tool path won't generate for 2D design... really stuck.

I've created a 2D design intended to be cut using a plasma cutter. I've started the design from scratch three times now, and when I got to cut the 2D profile, a section of the drawing just will not process. I get the following notice:

The section of the design is large enough to have a lead-in cut (other parts of the drawing are smaller and no problems there) and it's always the same part of the design that won't create a tool path.

Have you tried creating a "Start Point" on one of the right hand points that are not being toolpathed so it is not trying to leadin somewhere that is restricting the leadin. One other thing can sometimes help is the angle of the leadin, it usually defaults to 90 degrees, try a different angle, maybe 60 degrees ???

Can you upload the file? It can often be helpful to anyone trying to diagnose the issues.

Go to:-

File > Export > Select f3d format > Save to a location on your computer > Then attach to your reply.

Note: In order to make an attachment you need to click in the "Reply to this Topic" box and type your reply there, the attachments function will then become available.

I'll try the "start point" idea. I learned of the 60 degree tip and it solved issues for me in the past. Not this time. I've uploaded the file as you suggested. Really appreciate the time you've taken to assist!

The problem seems to be in your original Sketch, see the image below, I can get the toolpath to generate as long as that last line is not included.

So, you need to clean up your Sketch somehow in order to get the lines to connect correctly 🙂

Run the simulation in the attached file in order to see better what is happening 🙂

Thanks for finding this. It's like that line is on a different layer or plane. I've tried to fix it without luck, so will start the sketch from scratch and see how it goes. Again, thanks for your time helping me try to solve this puzzle!

I had a go at repairing your file but could not get it to work with a Left Compensation.

I have come up with what I think is a "workaround" that might get the job done for you for now.

I think it is about the Laser diameter but it should still work as all the other small corners in the design seem to be OK 😞 😞

Looks like a "bug" to me so hopefully someone from Autodesk will jump in and run with this one, meantime, file is attached for you 🙂 🙂

I've opened up CAM-31400 to investigate this issue. As for now, it appears that disabling lead-in/out is the only workaround. I realize this isn't a desired method...

I ended up starting from scratch one more time. This time I converted the image I had to an SVG and cleaned it up from there. For some reason, this worked!? Again, I so appreciate the time you took to work with me. It was helpful, and looks like you discovered a bug! Good work! Have a great day!

Hmmm, yes, that is very interesting, starting from scratch and using a different workflow seems to have done the trick for you.

Handy to know if anyone else has similar problems, thanks for the information, now I am thinking was there really a "bug" at all ???

Maybe the Developers can come back on that 🙂
