Hi,

Im having a problem in UGS sender when using a 2D contour toolpath generated with Fusion 360.

When the toolpath contains arcs, my CNC controlled with UGS does straight lines instead of arcs.

The toolpath shows a red arc instead of a blue arc.
This doesn't occur when I generate a toolpath using other CAM operations from Fusion 360 like 2D trace.

Then the arc toolpath in UGS sender shows as a blue arc and everything is fine.

I need the 2D contour operation to generate tabs in my toolpath.

Any Ideas how to fix this problem? Im not sure if it's an Fusion 360 problem or a UGS sender problem. My CNC is able to do arcs in operations send by UGS sender but just not with this 2D contour operation.

The Trace toolpath doesn't actually produce arc movements, but very small point-to-point line moves. I don't think I've heard of UGS not supporting arc moves, but I suppose it's possible.

What post processor are you using?

the 9 rings file and the boogje contour file wont run correctly.
Both turn arcs into straight lines.

Is it the display that's wrong, or does it actually cut wrong? What happens if you lift the tool well above the part and run it? Does the UGS need any updates?

Both in the display and the machine run wrong. Instead of arcs it makes straight lines.

Is your UGS software up to date? This post processor has been out for quite some time, and I think this is the first report I've seen of it not working. Is there a UGS user forum where other users are saying the same thing?

We can eliminate all arc moves from your post processor if you want, it's a simple edit.

Open up your post processor in your favorite text editor. Change this line:

allowedCircularPlanes = undefined; // allow any circular motion

to this:

allowedCircularPlanes = 0; // allow any circular motion

Yes!!,

Someone from a UGS forum solved it. Apparently I needed to check a box in settings to enable arc movements. This solved my problem.

My UGS is up to date as well. Heres a picture of the solution.
