Hi all. I am having an issue where I need to cut a shallow pocket on the four corners of a square, on 4 separate squares. In fusion it looks like there is no issue, but for some reason every time we run it on the CNC, it cuts one square properly, and the other 3 squares it doesn't cut the pocket, but instead cuts full depth. I will attach photos to show what I mean as well as the fusion file. Any help will be really appreciated.

Hi @foxandmarcoux, Looking at the file the geometry you have selected is incorrect for a 2d contour operation, it is a simple fix. Go back and select just the areas you would like to pocket with the pocket toolpath (use the one you have or make a new one) and then use 2d Contour to finish cutting out the parts. Don't select the top of your part because that won't have the profile your looking to achieve, instead select the bottom of your part as that includes the pockets. Hope that helps and feel free to ask more questions.

EDIT: I apologize, I didn't look at the pocket toolpath close enough to see that you had selected the proper pocket operation although it does not seem to be quite correct. As for the 2d contour you should double back on the selection there.

Ok, two things go on here. One is that by selecting the chain of perimeter lines on the model you will only get a pocket within those lines, and the 1/2" tool is too big to fit in there. So instead I selected the face, this will tell Fusion it can approach from outside and cut into the pocket. (aka an open pocket)

Selecting the face would have fixed the problem except that this model is composed of many small bodies and not complete parts. For this if you go back to the design environment and combine the major parts(bodies) to the smaller parts(bodies) then the 3d information is complete and Fusion will know the intent of these pocket areas(faces).

Hope that makes sense, and thanks for the challenge.
