It's a warning that I think is being applied incorrectly. For the particular warning, I'd honestly just ignore it. I'll try to find some time this weekend to poke at it further, but my instinct is telling me this shouldn't be displayed to the user.

When generating tool paths I frequently get the message Warning: Open passes are linked with both ways zig-zag ramp.

I want to do a ramp entry but can not seem to get rid of this warning by changing the ramp parameters. The simulation works and the path cuts correctly on my CNC. Why does this warning show up as it does not seem to be valid? I have been just ignoring the warning but I an guessing that will cause me a problem sometime in the future.

File attached

@djlunty Thanks for feedback. I've investigated the problem and I believe that we have minor bug which we have to fix. As @seth.madore said you can ignore it.

1) Warning appears when some open passes are linked using zig-zag ramp when "both ways" is disabled. It's correct because climb/conventional might be not obeyed on these ramps. You can easily check that warning disappears from your example when "Both ways" is enabled.

2) However there's no open passes in your example so warning mustn't be here.

3) The bug is related to spiral pass in the middle of your part at the bottom. Fusion360 always creates spiral toolpath for ideal circular passes (as in your case) and this pass is open. That's why this warning appears. Basically we should treat spiral passes as closed for the purpose of this warning.

@seth.madore I'll create a ticket and send you a number so you can follow.

Hey there,

I am hitting the same bug on latest version:

Fusion 2602.1.14 arm64 [Native]
Active Plan: Personal
macOS 15.5 (24F74) on Mac13,2

Note that it's happening on a cut from a sketch profile, maybe that's why it isn't recognized as a closed path.

Thanks!
