Machine Simulation Tool Attachment Point Error?

Hi all,

I just set up a new machine in the manufacturing space for machine simulation. I have successfully created the machine and all axis actuation looks correct.

When I apply this machine to a machining setup and attempt to simulate however, there is a huge misalignment from where the tool is and where the spindle interface is (see attached image). Any ideas why this might be happening? It looks to only be happening in the Y and Z directions. All other axis locations seem correct and the tool is still in the correct location.

This could be a number of things,

Can you upload you machine here? it will be much easier to diagnose

Right click on the machine in the machine library and select export, then attach in a reply here

Unfortunately I don't think I have permission from the manufacturer to share this machine model.

I was able to fix my issue. The mating surface for the toolholder is not a continuous surface and that seemed to cause issues in the way Fusion would interpret it. I modified the model so that this surface was continuous and was able to simulate correctly.

I have the same issue but only in Z axis that my toolholder is way too low in Z.

I attached my exported machine file. If you could have a look at it.

I corrected all my Toolholders with the correct gageline. Then it woked once and now i have around 10mm difference... Do you know what could be the issue?

I'm not sure what causes this problem it seems to be quite common and its doesn't really have an easy fix

The only thing I have found to work is to Re-create the Machine definition

I have done that here, double check that all the setting are correct.

You will need to select your post processor too

If I Compare the two .mch files I can see the Z pos of the Spindle is different by 12.79mm which is about what you were seeing

I don't know why this won't update in your original Definition

You can see the distance from the origin here measures correctly in the model, something funny is happening in the definition

@seth.madore can you pass this to someone in Machine Simulation to investigate?

Further investigation seems that you need to select a different tool attachment point in "setup machine model" and click OK, then re select the correct one, this seems to trigger it to register the correct coordinates

Due to a change in how Machine definitions work, When you update the machine in your library it doesn't update the one in the document anymore, If you make a change to the Model it will update the model but not the definition.

I'm not a really that happy about the change.

To fix this you need to remove the machine from any setups, then go to machine library and delete the machine from the Document, then go back to the setup and re pick the machine from the Library, this should update it with the correct attachment point.

Thank you. It was very annoying but I made it with your help. The tool is now in the perfect spot!

So far so good.

My toolchanger is in a critical spot in Z- behind the table. Is there a possibility to simulate the toolchange?

It is very critical if I have A+90 and a high workpiece...

Hi, If you wait a just a short little while till the next update I can help with the tool change simulation, its currently not available in machine sim, but will be soon
