Ran into a strange bug in Fusion. I have the machine extensions package. With the trunnion at A0 B0 I'm trying to turn the part 90 degrees so the long axis of the part is aligned with the y axis. I'm trying to do it with the tool orientation for that operation. No matter which axis I designate the x axis fusion lines up the part with the long axis of the part along the x axis. Anyone come up with a fix for this? Haven't tried this with the Y axis selection, only the x axis.

Thanks for any info

Can you please upload a sample Fusion file and the Post Processor you are using, much easier to diagnose that way 🙂

Using the Pre NGC Haas post. This is with a tr160. Seems like you should just be able to force the orientaion by defining the x or y axis in tool orient. I was kind of surprised when I loaded the file the the part oriented differently than I had defined.

Doesn't matter if I use Z and X, Z and Y or X and Y in tool Orientation, the post will only post A0 B0. Cannot get it to output A0 B90. Seems to work if the A axis is anything other than zero.

The part file doesn't matter. Take any part and apply tool orientation to it and output to the Haas trunnion pre NGC and see if you can get it to output anything other than A0 B0(3+2). I'm just trying to machine a part with it turned at B90(rotated 90 degrees) to the machine x axis, maybe trying to use tool orientation is the wrong trick for this one operation?

I have a machine configuration that I use and a modified Pre NGC post that are used to do positional 4 axis work with. I had problems getting the post to output the correct rotations when I first started using the rotary without a machine config. After defining the machine config and the post correctly all is well.

Understandable you are frustrated with what you are working on but the post, file and machine config directly effect the outcome of your posted code and without an example of what you are using none of us can help you. Also a couple screenshots or even a screencast would help.

I think this is it right there. The Haas posts have been built with machine config and machine simulation directly in mind. When one doesn't use at least the machine config, stuff starts to stop working as expected
