Hey Seth,

Mine doesn't look like yours, but I think I accomplished the same work.

I am guessing that the blue shape represents the spun profile? I have no idea what the yellow outline is?? and I wish I could get mine to display a nice gray body like yours does when I'm in the various set up operations. In mine the body is in dark green which is horrible to see and work with.

I tried to find settings and explanations for these features, but no luck. Is there some way to my my instance of fusion display like yours does. It is SO much cleaner. File attached.

Thanks,

CE

Hey All.

I am trying to set up a 3rd operation (lathe op) for my part that had two previous milling operations. In the 3rd Op. set up I am trying to put my origin on a point in the center of the square/axle. There is no problem doing this until I change the Setup- Operation Type, from "Mill" to "Turn or Mill/Turn." Once Turn or Mill/Turn is selected my origin goes away and I can't make it attach to the point specified.

I've tried everything I can think of. I even tried making a derived file and started with no previous operations. Nothing has worked.

Thanks for any ideas!

Chris E.

F3d Attahced

It's just a matter of picking what the Z axis (Rotary) is:

Also, you're going to find that Mesh Bodies and Turning toolpaths don't particularly like each other. In this video I'm removing all the Mesh Bodies and switching to "From Preceding Stock" for your second Mill op and your Turning Setup

Thank you yet again. I didn't know that about mesh bodies. I'm going to go back and try it exactly like you did. Ran out of time tonight, but I'll be working on Saturday too!

Have a great weekend Seth

Yeah, the Mesh body in turning looks like a bug. I'll get that logged this weekend (hopefully)

No file is needed 🙂
Press F8, that will disable the In Process Stock display (not the calculation of it).

The yellow outline is your spun profile display, that can also be turned off:

Just when I think there can't be an option I haven't found........... Lol.

Hey in the final simulation of your video there is a nice gray colored representation of the stock being removed. How do you get that?

When I f8 the green stock remaining goes away and I get no representation of the stock being removed. F8 again and the green comes back. Would love to get it looking like yours did in the video. So clean.

Thanks,

CE
