Sorry Ive been swamped! I made a sample file. Ive never screen recorded so if you need to see that, Ill have to play with it some more this afternoon.

As you can see, helical ramp is used in all operations, but in the pocket operations the ramp is ignored and the bit does a straight plunge. I use a straight flute bit for dados so this creates more tool wear than I would like. I can reverse the operation and avoid the problem but sometimes the tabs don't hold as well on smaller pieces.

On the 2D Contour operation in the setup 1, I would like to be able to select a bottom face, select same plane, then deselect the 3 small pieces, so I don't have to use tabs on the whole sheet. Since I have a vacuum table, I don't need tabs on the large "Top" and "base" components. Currently I have to run a second contour pass to clean the tabs from the large pieces, or remove them by hand. Being able to deselect the parts that need different tab settings, or different tool/toolpath types would be super helpful.

Thanks!

As a cabinet maker, I use the nesting feature daily and I have two complaints that if addressed would be a significant improvement to my workflow.

1. When using the select all feature, there is no way I'm aware of to deselect individual components. Sometimes within a large nest there is a need to deselect 1 or 2 parts that require a different tool path or different settings for tabs. It seems like there should be an easy way to make this possible.

2. When cutting rabbet joints (open ended pockets) on the edge of a nested part, Fusion thinks it can plunge outside the component and not collide with the existing stock. I can't seem to find any option to avoid this, despite having a ramp set up in the linking tab. This causes unnecessary tool wear because the tool is plunging directly into the existing stock.

I have done some research on both of these issues and can't come up with any answers. Is this something Autodesk could look into? They seem like easy fixes.

They both seem like valid requests to me. Would you be able to share a screen recording of your workflow, or perhaps a Fusion file that demonstrates these issues? You can either attach it here or drop me a PM (private message) with the A360 link
