Hi, l am getting good results with adaptive. I ran adaptive for 6 separate parts and got excessive mill travel. In attached I have adaptive on individual parts with 6 adaptive ops. I am getting spindle moves on the attached parts that are causing high run time. Can the forum help with settings that will have minimal spindle run?

thanks JR

PS part image attached is 24 inches long 6 inches wide and depth is .72

Either Order by Area or program one and use a Pattern (much proffered for any 3d toolpath - 1/6th of the calculation time!)

There are many ways to reduce excessive machine movement with different settings. Both of the suggestions made by programming2C78B would work, but so could many other settings. We really need the file or more pictures to fully understand the situation. The file is the best option.

Another potential option would be to set your Retraction Policy to Minimum retraction, and set you Stay-Down Level to Most. Both of those options are in the linking tab.

In the Milling tab of the Manufacture workspace, in the Setup menu, there is an option for New Pattern.

This will bring up a dialog with pattern options. Choose the appropriate pattern type for your application.

After you click OK, a new pattern will be added to the browser.

Patterns work like a folder in the browser. You can activate them by clicking the circular radio button, very similar to the way components work in the Design workspace.

You can either create new operations directly in the pattern, or you can drag and drop existing operations into the pattern. You can even put patterns in patterns.
