Hello, two hopefully easy questions about machine simulation and alignment.

First question is how do i set the machine and fixture up so that i dont need to re-align it when doing setups? i thought if i lighned up the machine origin to where i want the fixture to sit, and fixture (tombstone) origin in the same place, when i go into machine simulation, the two origins would overlap and id be set, but my fixture is way far away from where i want it to sit in the machine ( out of the machine entirely) Im trying to make it so i dont need to align things everytime, there must be a way.

Second question is where are the machines stored? its not in my assets, when i go to select the machine for machine siomulation, i cant select the thing that i was building, only an older version from when i started, and then a message pops up and tells me that theres a newwer version of the machine and it will use the newer version. but i dont know where any of this info is located so i cant just remove the older version and use just the newer version.

Hi

If your fixture is modelled so the Document Origin is the attachment point AND you machines part attachment point is also at the Document Origin then setting the Attachment point to 'selected point' and then not selecting anything will automatically snap them together

Your machines are probably stored locally

But I prefer to store them in the cloud

You will need to turn cloud libraries on If you haven't

That warning about the machine being out of date comes from there being multiple places to edit a machine definition.

You can edit it in

Machine Library

The Setup

Machine Builder.

this causes issues in syncing which is a little annoying.

OK so i figured out my origin issues, didnt realize when i went to machine builder the machine was rotated 90* from being in the design tab. but the "where" question still persists.

here is where i named the later itiration of the machine build

yet here it still shows up as an older name i had for it

then when i select it it comes up with this

and finally updates it to the correct name. so idk where the updated machine lives in the fusion system cause i cant find it, only place i can find it is from within machine builder

Hi

If your machines are located on the cloud the files are here:

If they are stored locally they are located here:

C:\Users\yourusernamehere\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\CAM360\machines.

The out of date machine thing has been a problem since machine simulation came out, I've never 100% figured it out

What I'm pretty sure happens is you edit the Machine in machine builder but it doesn't sync/update in the machine library.

what you can do is open it in the machine library(it will say there is a newer version), not change anything and then save it again, then it will be up to date.

Thats so weird, yeah the machine doesnt show up in either the cnc machines in assets, or the file path you showed. the only way i can see the machine is when i select it in setup, and it shows theout of date one, and the new one then loads. If i go to where i saved the model of the machine, and go to utilities, machine builder then i can see the updated one.
