2D Contour broken into tiny segments?

Once again, I'm not seeing the logic here. I'm simply trying to cut along a curve or surface using the 2D Contour strategy. However, Fusion really sees this as a complex entity when it is just a curve. How do I adjust settings to help the software find a logical solution? In other software, this is automatic and very simple.

I assume the software believes I need a smaller tool to accomplish this even though it is completely unnecessary. The Z levels are such that any size tool up to 1/2" diameter could achieve the results needed. I have tried many other strategies to clear these areas and everything ignores the area leaving it mostly unmachined in the end. I am not going to set up a 1/16" diameter tool to clear these flats when a 1/2" or 1/4" can easily do the job. It would be faster to draw a line and engrave than to find a solution here, which again has me scratching my head. How can this be so difficult?

All of these contour surfaces are the exact same Z level and they are above the surrounding material, which would theoretically allow them to be cut. I designed it that way for this very reason. The only solution appears to be the use of a tiny endmill even though there's plenty of clearance for larger tools.

Fusion 180 update...

Yes, I said 180 as I have turned a corner or two thanks to Al and Curt with Autodesk. With their patient assistance through a GoToMeeting session, we discovered the issues plaguing my CAM progress.

It turns out that Fusion was doing really weird things that are not normal or useful because my part was imported from Rhinoceros as surfaces and solids. After converting everything to stitched solids and minimizing bodies, everything worked right away. I can now predictably create slots with the pocket strategy and contours along curves and surfaces.

I have to say that Fusion is truly awesome software once everything is working properly!

I'm running two complex test parts this week, one programmed in Fusion 360 CAM and the other in RhinoCAM, which I have used successfully for many years. I'll update you on the results.

Thank you again to Curt, Al and everyone who chimed in the past two days on all three threads.

Jason
