Hi all,
I am new to Fusion 360 and i have some trouble with stock definbition.
I am trying to use a solid as a stock but it doesn't work. Whatever the option i choose in the dialoig box, from "Fixed size box" to "From solid", the generated toolpath is always the same.
The selected stock isn't taken in account.
Can you help me ? I can't find a tutorial for this.

Thanks.

Pascal.

The 2D Adaptive and some other toolpaths assume the stock is square. If you can share the part here that would help.

So in the file you shared, you didn't have the model selected in your Setup, or your stock model, and your geometry selections for surfacing were the body, and not the actual surfaces (this selection can be a little tricky at times). I've shared the one with some minimal fixes to keep the toolpaths constrained better.

Thank you for your help, i will check your file tonight at home.

What is the problem with selecting the entire body ?

I did this because i could'nt select individual surfaces with the sourrounding stock, how did you proceed ?

Anyway I thought it was Ok because the toolpath was generated with no warning.

About the model selection, i never really know what to do. i think i don't understand well what they mean by "model" (i'm French, so it's not always easy ...)

i had tried different options, selecting/unselecting to see the effect. I often hesitate between different strategies for a given machinig operation, maybe several options are possible, i'm not sure.

It is unlisted, but anyone can use that link and view the screencast.

I'm still pretty new to making them, so that was actually the third attempt (although the second was interrupted by a message on Google Hangouts that showed up in the recording). I have found that order of operations is a big part of how smooth and understandable the recording is to follow, so not skipping steps or going back can be very helpful (and again, I'm still pretty new at it).

And thank you!
