topic Tool path optimization in Fusion Manufacture Forum

Would you please advise how I might optimize tool paths for the arc-shaped slots in the attached model.

The tool diameter is exactly the same as the slot width.

I have tried the "open contour" option without success.

If one slot only is selected, the result is perfect. Once subsequent slot(s) of the same radius is (are) selected the tool path becomes irrational.

Thank you in anticipation.

Use 2D Contour, in the Passes tab set your Sideways Compensation to Left (climb milling) and Compensation Type to In Computer (I also suggest Repeat Finishing Pass to make sure it's a nice clean finish), and in the Linking tab, uncheck all your Leads boxes and check the Ramp box and specify your angle and maximum step depth. This should do nicely.

Thank you for your quick response, especially during Easter!
I will try your suggestions - thanks again.
Kind regards
Alan

Sorry that was a quick response. Here's an example (you'll have to tune it for your machine capabilities obviously, but this should get you started).

The Circular toolpaths are really for things like circular pockets, counterbores and the like.

Tried your earlier solution. The full circles machined perfectly as a contour but slots were ignored. Loaded slots as.....slots and the result was perfect. Not only that, G Code is reduced by about 80%. Only outstanding problem is that spindle speeds change throughout the program, but that's easy to fix.

Re your second suggestion, I am unable to open local files. Perhaps i can upload to my Fusion account.

Kind regards

Alan
